Please read his ad carefully, there will be a quiz!

Leroy is an 8 year old Tb gelding. He raced once, but I'm not sure why because the horse has plenty of GO!

I have a full set of Xrays on Leroy and he is very sound with great feet, thanks to my amazing farrier.

Accomplishments: Leroy has competed through Novice level eventing. He has competed at Copper Meadows, Twin, Fresno, Shepherd Ranch and Woodside. He would jump a burning building if you pointed him at it. With the right rider on a good day, if the stars have aligned he can put in a decent test. And he keeps the poles up 99.9% of the time.

Leroy has been to many schooling jumping shows.

He has done three Hawley Bennett clinics

He has survived several trail rides, however he likes to be the fearless leader, so move out of the way Karen, Leroy is coming through...

Personality: Leroy does have alot of that. ...the best way to describe Leroy is "a little edgy". There was a period of Leroys former life where he was severely misunderstood and potentially abused. I take his cheeky personality with a grain of salt and have grown to find humor in his communication style. With all that said, he is not any more dangerous then the average horse and my students handle him without problem. He does not always want to cuddle with you though, except on the rare occasion when he will put his head in your arms and want you to hug him til he's over it, walks away and flips you the bird. He's kind of weird, but I love him for it.

To Ride: quite like his personality Leroy can be mildly complicated undersaddle if you want him to perform at his full potential. He requires a rider with quiet and educated hands as he has a busy mouth if you have busy hands.  Atleasr 1 day per week I flat and jump him in a rope halter.  He is a forward ride, but finds comfort in your leg. His rider must be able to ride him into the contact from your leg, then he can almost feel a little fancy. Leroy does not buck, rear or bolt and is not necessarily spooky. He will probably do all those things the day you come try him though. He understands lateral work well, has a fabulous stretchy trot and a good free walk. His canter is not necessarily the most comfortable thing on earth.. I don't have my appendix anymore, but if I did I would probably have needed it removed the first couple months of owning this horse . His gaits have improved drastically, but he is not uphill, infact he looks fabulous in a western saddle ;)  Last minute , a teenage rodeo kid/friend needed a horse to take her Queen Rodeo video on, Leroy volunteered and now she's obsessed with him, and queen. Also, Leroy  does have perfect lead changes, don't ask me how. And he is typically the same horse off property as he is at home,  sometimes better even.

To fences , the horse will literally jump anything and jump a 10 from any spot however he can get strong and make a bid for jumps if not ridden to his liking.🙄 I teach a lesson on him about once a week and keep him in 5x a week training. Kids ride him. Adult Amateurs ride him. I don't even have to bribe them with anything so that has to say something right?

Leroy could easily go Training level or do straight jumpers. I do not believe he is your 2 star horse. I think that would fry his brain, we need to keep that sucker fully functioning, I've put alot of work into growing brain cells with this one , but I do think he could be appropriate for a good riding Jr or AA, with experience, on a budget, in a program that is up for a rewarding challenge. You should probably have a good sense of humor too. He will thrive with one rider, unfortunately for him I have 15 other horses...

His person is out there and I will happily keep competing this red headed step child til they surface. With all jokes aside, he is a cool dude and he has earned his right to a pet human.  He is my ranch hands favorite horse in the barn, go figure. (Yes, I've already tried to get her to buy him)

Also, please don't waste my time by asking for "more info". I just wrote a novel about him! Happily will answer any specific questions. If you're interested please make an appointment to try him! I'll take recent flat video next week. Located in Solvang, Ca 1️⃣2️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣
